Accountants haysmacintyre, Kingston Smith and Sayer Vincent took the top slots in the annual auditor awards as voted by the readers of Charity Finance.
Compiled with data from approximately 1,100 charities as part of Charity Finance’s seventeenth annual Charity Audit Survey, respondents were asked to rate their auditors for overall service and charity expertise.
Top honours in overall service were shared by haysmacintyre and Kingston Smith, closely followed by Gotham Erskine and Sayer Vincent. Kingston Smith also appeared joint first for charity expertise alongside Sayer Vincent with Gotham Erskine and haysmacintyre third and fourth respectively.
With total combined income of £20.3bn, the 1,100 charities in the survey spent over £22m on audit fees. Horwath Clark Whitehill took the largest slice of this at £2.5m, followed by PricewaterhouseCoopers (£2.3m), Deloitte (£1.9m), haysmacintyre (£1.8m), Kingston Smith (£1.6m) and BDO (£1.3m).
