The Euclid Network, a European network of civil society leaders led by Acevo, has secured a United Nations grant of $300,000.
The funding has been awarded for Euclid's work on strengthening civil society across borders to develop democracy. The two-year project will primarily focus on Moldova and Ukraine.
A Euclid spokesperson said developing a strategy for the project was in the early stages but would include connecting civil society with government to get involved in policy-making, training civil society leaders, online forums and roundtable sessions.
It’s the second round of funding Euclid has secured over the past few weeks. Last month, it got a grant of 60,000 euros of unrestricted funding from the European Commission under the Directorate-General Education & Culture European under the Active Citizenship Programme.
Filippo Addarii (pictured), executive director of Euclid, said: “The UN’s support marks a major milestone for us at Euclid Network. We have extremely ambitious aims for the next two years, having the backing of both the UN and the EC will help make these possible.”
Euclid is the first European network of third sector leaders, which aims to connect, develop and support third sector leaders across borders to improve their professionalism and innovation.
It was launched in 2007 as a joint venture between the umbrella bodies Acevo, Centre des Jeunes Dirigeants de L’Economie Sociale in France and Ideell Arena in Sweden.
