Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
Martin Narey, chief executive of Barnardo’s, has pledged that he and his senior management team will publish a full list of their expenses in light of recent relevations about MPs published by the Daily Telegraph.
Speaking at the Wavelength conference, Leadership in Tough Times, Narey said "visibility of leadership" was essential.
“I am going to publish full expenses details for me and my directors,” he said.
To his list of important leadership qualities Narey added honesty, saying thank-you properly, being able to admit and handle self-doubt, and having the right mixture of strategic planning and vision.
A Barnardo’s spokeswoman said the charity’s list of senior staff expenses would be published from this year onwards.
