Charity Commission appoints PKF as internal auditor

The Charity Commission is devising a new audit strategy to manage key risks following the appointment of PKF as its new internal auditor.

The work will be conducted principally through PKF's Manchester and Liverpool offices by a team led by partner Richard Weighell who heads the firm's business risk services team in the UK.

Commission chief executive Andrew Hind said: "The Commission is going through a period of continued change following the strategic review in 2005 and the implementation of the 2006 Charities Act. While the changes are moving us forward, they can equally lead to increased business pressures and a change of risk profile. PKF's track record in the sector provides us with both reassurance and challenge that the changes we are making are right.”

Weighell added: "The Charity Commission is setting an excellent example in recognising that it, along with the rest of the sector, face risks but is working to address them and to strengthen procedures."
