Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
Citra has announced that it intends to launch as a professional association in December. A survey designed to gather information about the issues facing ICT staff and the organisations for which they work found that nearly three quarters of respondents were in favour of a professional organisation for the sector with half identifying networking opportunities as the main benefit of being a member of such a body.
Earlier informal research indicated that staff working in the sector as ICT professionals did not always feel valued and were not given opportunities for professional development. The research backed this up with 45 per cent of respondents citing insufficient importance attached to the role or lack of training/professional development as the main issue they face.
