NCVO has launched its new strategic agenda for the next five to ten years as well as new vision, mission and values and a new membership package.
In view of the changes to the size and scope of the sector in the past decade, NCVO began a consultation process in February 2005 looking at new long term opportunities and challenges for the sector. The agenda states: "NCVO aims to ensure that voluntary and community organisations and their users can play the fullest possible part in civil society and in building a diverse, tolerant, just and compassionate society."
In order to increase the amount of smaller organisations it reaches out to, NCVO has decided to make many of its membership benefits available in an electronic package. It has launched three new tailored membership packages to complement its existing five-tier membership scheme. Community Membership is a free package open to small organisations with less than £10,000 annual income. Community Plus Membership from £38 per year is tailored to meet the needs of organisations with income below £50,000, while Membership Extra, from £950 per year, is an enhanced package aimed at organisations with income of over £1 million. It includes a range of new influencing and
networking opportunities and aims to improve collaboration.
Income generated by the Membership Extra scheme will help to fund the free programme, which will be capped at 1,000 organisations, to allow NCVO to assess the cost implications in the first year.
