Charities delivering public services could be find their levels of donations adversely affected, according to new research.
While almost half of respondents to the latest nfpSynergy charity awareness survey are happy to support charities if they receive income from government in exchange for delivering such services, 20 per cent of the public said that they would be less likely to donate, 16 per cent said they didn't know, while one in 20 that they simply wouldn't give. A further 10 per cent said they would be more likely to give.
The public is completely split over whether charities should deliver more public services, with 38 per cent not sure, 32 per cent against, and 30 per cent in favour.
