A £1.3m fund has been opened up for organisations working to reduce prisoner reoffending rates.
Up to six unrestricted grants worth between £200,000 and £350,000 will be given to charities and social enterprises with a proven track record in reducing rates of reoffending.
The Impetus Trust, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Indigo Trust and the Henry Smith Charity have pulled together the initial £1.3m, but hope that other grantmakers and individuals will step up to provide further cash once the first round of funding is distributed.
The grantmakers will take a "highly engaged" approach to the funding which will include professional development to help the grant recipients scale up their operations.
Daniela Barone Soares, chief executive of the Impetus Trust, said: "We’re looking for charities and social enterprises that have developed and tested innovative solutions to the problem of re-offending and that have ambitions to transform their impact.
"We need to invest in some new ideas that help break the cycle of re-offending, and Impetus is proud to be at the forefront of that work."
Applications will be accepted via the Impetus Trust website until September 15.
