Congratulations on making it to the end of another sweltering week which saw millions of Brits stare longingly at the moon as our current planet burns. Luckily, UK Astronomy was on hand sharing solar glasses with the public to ensure nobody stared at it unprotected à la Donald Trump.
Well done to Nigel Farage too who successfully beat Count Binface in the Battle of Clacton but then shunned the count to avoid meeting the “nobodies” who voted for him. While he may have lost the battle, the intergalactic space warrior has raised some money for Shelter through merch sales.

How well have you handled this year’s heatwaves?
“I’ve managed ok with 5am dog walks and have just tried to remember the heat is affecting many people in worse ways than me so I can handle a bit of sweat!”
As a trumpeter, what’s your favourite trumpet solo?
“My favourite to perform was always Hindemith Sonata for Trumpet and Piano because you have to give it loads of welly. I love the solo in Penny Lane if I can get hold of a piccolo trumpet.”
Is your dog Ziggy a good boy?
“Ziggy is actually a girl and was named by my kids who are big Bowie fans. She’s very good and very needy so is rarely more than an inch away from my side.”
What’s the best smell you’ve ever smelt?
“My absolute favourite smell is buddleia because it reminds me of fun days in my childhood garden.”
Which word do you overuse?
“Amazing. I’m a glass half full person so find a lot of things amazing, which I realise can be a tad annoying!”
Have you ever regretted taking part in a fundraising challenge?
“I came close during a 10k for Save the Children when I led Community Fundraising, but I hadn’t trained at all so it was entirely my own fault.”
Fictional character you most admire?
“Lisa Simpson. She’s intelligent, passionate and socially conscious, advocating for what she believes in, not to mention she’s a brilliant musician.”
What’s the earliest you’ve ever been to the gym?
“5am. I live in Suffolk so if I’m feeling highly motivated and want to go before I get the train to London it means an early start.”
Favourite jacket potato topping?
“Cheese and beans, why mess with a classic.”
Last time you spoke to a stranger?
“Today. I’ve got one of those faces that seems to say come and speak to me.”
