Stephanie Peacock has remained in her role as civil society minister in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) amid new prime minister Andy Burnham’s cabinet reshuffle.
The MP for Barnsley South has held the civil society brief since July 2024, when she was appointed as parliamentary under-secretary of state and minister for sport, tourism, civil society and youth under previous prime minister Keir Starmer.
The news comes shortly after it was announced that culture secretary Lisa Nandy would also be retaining her role following the cabinet reshuffle, a move that was welcomed by several charity sector bodies.
Charity tax minister remains
Meanwhile, Dan Tomlinson, the MP for Chipping Barnet, announced on social media that he would be remaining as charity tax minister in the Burnham cabinet.
Tomlinson was appointed as exchequer secretary to the Treasury in September 2025 in a Starmer cabinet reshuffle, and holds responsibility for the taxation of charities, the voluntary sector and gift aid.
Office for Impact Economy moves
It was announced earlier this week in parliament that the Office for Impact Economy would be moving over to the DCMS after previously operating out of the Cabinet Office.
In a LinkedIn post announcing the move, the Office for Impact Economy wrote: “This machinery of government change brings policy, delivery and funding levers together, providing a stronger platform from which to pursue that ambition.”
