Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
The second wave of the largest sector survey ever conducted has been launched by the Office for Civil Society today.
Some 110,000 civil society organisations have been invited to participate in the National Survey of Charities and Social Enterprises which will measure progress since the first survey in 2008 when 49,000 organisations took part.
As with the first survey it will ask questions on the opportunities to influence local decisions, the availability and nature of local funding and income, and satisfaction with local support and guidance.
Minister for civil society Nick Hurd (pictured) said: "This survey represents a real opportunity for organisations to put their views across on issues that affect them, communicate with local authorities and their partners, and inform and influence national and local policy. I urge all those organisations who receive the survey to respond to ensure their voice is heard."
Invited organisations should complete the survey by 27 September. Full results will be published in early 2011 and will show results by local authority area.
