Paul Stallard

Paul Stallard

Chair, PFRA from January 2012

Paul Stallard is the first paid chair of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association, a post he took up in January 2012.

A financial services marketing expert, Stallard began his career by joining the management development programme at the Leeds Permanent Building Society. He was fast-tracked into his first managerial appointment after just 12 months and in 1980 he was asked to establish the Society’s marketing function supporting 485 branches.

In 1986 he joined Midland Bank as head of advertising and went on to jointly conceive and then launch First Direct. He then moved on to rescue a small financial services company on the brink of collapse, and merged it with Cheltenham & Gloucester where he stayed on as head of marketing.

He set up his own consultancy in 1992 before being hired by Skipton Building Society.

In 1996 Paul was appointed as a non-executive director of stockbroking firm Dealwise Ltd (a member of the Skipton Group) and in 1998 he joined it as full-time sales and marketing director. The business was sold to TD Waterhouse for £82M in 2000, and Stallard stayed on to launch the brand in the UK and Europe.

In 2002 Paul and some colleagues set up a new stockbroking operation where he stayed for two years before moving back into consulting.

He is both a graduate and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
