YolanDa Brown is the new chair of Youth Music

Our weekly summary of the latest movers in the charity sector.


Chief executive

Scottish social enterprise the Wise Group has announced the appointment of Sean Duffy as its new chief executive.

Duffy will join the organisation in the New Year, replacing currently Laurie Russell who is retiring after 11 years in the post.

He is currently commercial director of Newsquest Scotland and has previous senior leadership experience at FirstGroup, National Express and STV Group.


Fundraising and communications

Rachel Wagstaff has been appointed as the new director of fundraising at Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

Wagstaff is currently the supporter fundraising manager at Crohn’s and Colitis UK. She has previously worked for Christian Concern and Trinity Fellowship.

She is also a trustee of KRF, a small Christian charity providing relief and development in rural Kenya.  


Non executive

Youth Music has announced the appointment of bandleader and composer YolanDa Brown as chair of the charity’s trustee board.

Brown replaces current chair Andy Parfitt who will stand down in December, having completed his five year tenure in the role.

Brown is an award-winning saxophonist, band leader, music composer and broadcaster and will take up her new role with the charity in January.


Deaf health charity SignHealth have appointed Jackie Driver as its new chair, along with four new trustees to its board.

Driver, who is deaf, was recently ranked as the sixth most influential disabled person in the UK in this year’s Power 100 List 2017.

She has served on a number of different charity trustee boards including as chair of Breakthrough UK, and on the board of DEAF Inc and Result CIC.
