The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has appointed James Clarry as its next chief executive.
Clarry will take on the role from January at the latest, CAF said, with Caroline Siarkiewicz continuing as interim CEO until then.
Since 2023, Clarry has been CEO of Justice and Care, a charity that combats modern slavery, following a 20-year career in financial services.
He was chief operating officer at private bank and wealth manager Coutts, where he also led the firm’s work on diversity and inclusion.
Clarry is also chair of Fireflai, a platform specialising in advanced AI and data science, and has a background in law.
CAF’s chair Edward Braham said: “This is a key moment for CAF and its future. James’s experience truly reflects the breadth of our organisation, combining a strong background in social purpose, banking and wealth management.
“He’ll bring strategic leadership for our teams across the UK and North America, ensuring CAF continues to evolve how we deliver for our clients and support charities and communities in the years ahead.
“I’d also like to thank Caroline Siarkiewicz for her diligence and expertise guiding the organisation through this transition.”
Clarry said: “I’m passionate about driving long-term systemic change and believe philanthropy has the power to do so across many areas.

CAF’s previous permanent CEO Neil Heslop stepped down earlier this year, following a six-year term.
In the year to April 2025, CAF distributed its highest-ever sum of £1.2bn to charities on behalf of individuals and businesses.
