The National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) is developing a new dashboard to help its members highlight their work and the impact they make as local infrastructure organisations (LIOs).
NAVCA’s new £70,000 dashboard tool was made possible by a £50,000 contribution from the national social enterprise Fusion21 Foundation, while the additional £20,000 came from its members via match funding.
NAVCA members, academics, local commissioners and expert partners, including sector think tank NPC, are co-designing the new dashboard.
Once completed, the dashboard will allow LIOs to measure, understand and better communicate their value on both local and national levels.
It will be developed to support data collection, reporting, managing funders’ expectations, enhancing partnerships and improving the support provided to communities across the country.
Greater recognition brought to LIOs
Rich Warrington, deputy chief executive at NAVCA, said: “Our members have told us that the results of their work connecting people and organisations, transferring knowledge and skills, negotiating with and for community organisations, and enabling volunteers and volunteering involving organisations to find each other often remain unseen and unheralded.
“We’re excited about this project, which will develop the tools for NAVCA members to understand the positive change they help to enable.”
Jo Hannan, head of Fusion21 Foundation, said: “We’re proud to be working with NAVCA on this ambitious project that will help bring greater recognition to the crucial support LIOs provide – so much of which happens behind the scenes and often goes unnoticed.
“This project aligns perfectly with our commitment to making positive changes through learning, research and evidence.”
