Shelter set up an in-house team back in 2005. At that time a few agencies had disappeared and face-to-face options for charities were limited. Back then it was a very natural decision to do it ourselves. But right now the marketplace is very different. There are many new agencies out there all with something different to offer and charities need to decide what’s best for them. Setting up an in-house team is a huge commitment and not something that should be done on a whim. But if it is done right and at the right time, for the right reasons, it can be a fabulous internal resource to have.
