Government's small charity coronavirus fund to close next month

29 Jul 2020 News

Small charities in England have until 17 August to apply for funds from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund.

The £200m scheme, which is funded by the government and managed by the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF), was opened in May on a first-come, first-served basis with no deadline.

Yesterday NLCF said in a statement that it has decided to close applications next month.

£55m awarded so far

NLCF has received more than 10,000 applications to the fund and has awarded around £55m so far to 2,300 charities, according to the statement.

It does not say how much of this money has so far been received by the successful charities.

NLCF is also currently assessing another £130m in applications.

It stressed that other schemes for supporting charities affected by the coronavirus pandemic will remain open after 17 August.
