The Hackney Half Marathon has reported raising more than £4m for charities at its 2026 event, held on 17 May.
The event, which passes a number of local landmarks in the east London borough before finishing at Hackney Marshes, raised a similar amount in 2025, up from a total of around £2.4m in 2024.
The 2026 headline charity partner for the half marathon was Single Homeless Project. The London-based charity supports more than 10,000 people in the capital annually, including by offering crisis help and operating hostels, supported accommodation and semi-independent housing across the city.
In total the Hackney Half, which forms part of the Hackney Moves fitness festival and is billed as London’s biggest such event, has now raised more than £16m for charities since 2026.
‘Runners supporting powerful causes’
Ian Allerton, the managing director of Motiv Sports UK, which promotes the half marathon, said: “We’re incredibly proud to see the HOKA Hackney Half and Hackney Moves continue to grow as a celebration of everything that makes this community so special.
“From elite runners chasing times, fundraisers supporting powerful causes, to first-timers crossing the finish line, and from our community partners to the thousands of supporters lining the streets, this weekend truly captured the spirit of Hackney,” he added. “Big thank you to the runners, community and everyone involved.”
Around 27,000 runners were reported to have signed up for this year’s Hackney Half.
The fastest 2026 finisher was Sam Tyas, with a time of 01:06:35, with Ciara Boyd-Squires Long the quickest woman at 01:14:54.
Celebrity participants included broadcaster Clara Amfo, comedian Elis James, Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson and Married at First Sight star Leah Marie Tyrer.
Entries for the 2027 Hackney Half are now open, with mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) as its new headline partner.
