A record-breaking £87.5m has been raised for charities in this year’s London Marathon, the event’s organisers have announced.

London Marathon Events (LME) revealed today that this year’s total has already surpassed 2025’s £87.3m figure, which set a world record for the biggest annual one-day fundraising event.

Of the £87.5m raised so far for this year’s marathon, official fundraising platform Enthuse facilitated £42.2m in donations, with another £43.7m pledged through JustGiving.

LME said the final amount raised will be announced in September and is expected to surpass £90m.

Other fundraising data was collated from Cancer Research UK, Crowdfunder, GoFundMe and GiveGain.

Hugh Brasher, LME chief executive, said: “The 2026 TCS London Marathon was an extraordinary day of world records, from the elite men and women running such extraordinary times, to the participation numbers, and now in fundraising.”

Eddie Allenby, Enthuse general manager, praised the 22% year-on-year increase in funds raised through its platform amid a tough financial climate.

Allenby added: “At a time where finances are tight for many, the TCS London Marathon continues to bring out the best in humanity and inspire charitable giving like no other event.”

2027 charity partner confirmed

Earlier this week, the National Autistic Society (NAS) was announced as the lead charity partner of next year’s London Marathon after applications opened in March 2025.

NAS told Civil Society it was chasing a £2m fundraising target and aimed to make the 2027 event “the most inclusive yet”.

LME has applied for next year’s event to be held across two days, potentially raising £130m for charities, but this has yet to be approved.

Since the first London Marathon in March 1981, the annual event has raised more than £1.3bn for charities.

The London Marathon Foundation, the event’s charity, has awarded £110m to about 1,700 activity-based projects in the UK since its first event.
