Who’s Moving: Cafod, Mencap, Depaul and more

Our weekly summary of the latest movers in the charity sector. 


Chief executives

Christine Allen will rejoin Cafod as its director. She first worked for the development charity as a campaigner at the beginning of her career and currently works for Christian Aid. Read the full story here. 

The Access Project, a charity that works to get bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds into top universities, has announced that its new chief executive will be Nathan Sansom. He has previously held senior roles at the Challenge Network, Starfish and Frontline and within the civil service where he worked on the development of National Citizen Service. 

Ashley McCaul has joined ThinkForward, which supports young people at risk of unemployment, as chief executive. For the last 13 years, she has led the charity, London Skills for Growth, a post 16 education provider with bases across East and South East London.  

The British Geriatrics Society has appointed Sarah Mistry as its new chief executive. She joins next February and will succeed Colin Nee who announced his retirement from the BGS earlier this year. Mistry has worked at Bond first as director of effectiveness and learning, then as director of programmes and partnerships.


Finance and operations 

Paul Stevenson is set to join Mencap as its chief finance officer in January.  He is a former CFO supply chain at Burberry and is currently studying for a Masters at Cass Business School’s Centre for Charity Effectiveness.


Fundraising and communications 

Homelessness charity Depaul UK has appointed Paul McKenzie as its new executive director of fundraising and communication. He is currently head of philanthropy and partnerships at Battersea, is set to take up his new post with Depaul UK on 2 January 2019. Read the full story here. 


Non-executive roles 

The Labour peer Lord Harris will become the next chair of the Fundraising Regulator when Michael Grade completes his term. Read the full story here. 

Tony Stoller has been appointed as chair of Orchestra Live, an organisation that works to provide access to orchestral experiences to communities across the country.
