Social Investment Business has appointed Nick Temple, currently deputy chief executive at Social Enterprise UK, as its new chief executive.

Temple, who has been deputy chief executive at SEUK for six years, will take up his new role in January.

He previously worked with the British Council and charity UnLtd, and before that was director of policy and communications at the School for Social Entrepreneurs.

Temple said he was joining Social Investment Business at “a very important time”.

He said: “We need to make social investment work for more charities and social enterprises and Social Investment Business is brilliantly placed to test innovative approaches and explore new partnerships that can help tackle the big challenges we face as a country.

“I have been privileged to work with a fantastic team at Social Enterprise UK over the last six years and am now looking forward to working with the SIB team and board.”

Hazel Blears, chair of Social Investment Business, said: “Nick’s knowledge and understanding of social enterprise and social investment is second to none and I am absolutely delighted that he will be our next chief executive.”

“I am looking forward to working with Nick to take our business from strength to strength as we move into a new phase of development and use more of our own money to test new approaches to social investment that help more organisations improve people’s lives.”

The previous chief executive of Social Investment Business, Jonathan Jenkins, left in March to join London's Air Ambulance as chief executive.
