London Landmarks Half Marathon has reported raising a record £12.5m from its event this year, over £1.4m more than in 2023.

Organisers expect the event total to rise to £14m when offline income from other charities is accounted for.

More than 18,800 people took part in the fundraising event on 7 April, the most it has ever had.

Now in its seventh year, the annual half-marathon event is organised by pregnancy and baby loss charity Tommy’s, with funds going to it and 500 charity partners.

Since its inaugural event, in which participants run past Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Cheesegrater and Scalpel, the event has raised over £52m for charities.

‘How inclusive running can be’

Lia Fyles, race director and member of Tommy’s senior leadership team, said on Sunday: “Today’s event has been so special on many levels.

“Not only have we exceeded £50m raised for charity which is just huge, but this has been our biggest London Landmarks Half Marathon ever in terms of runners.

“The atmosphere has been amazing as everyone came together and showed how inclusive running can be.

“We want as many people as possible, regardless of their background or ability, to be able to experience the magic of being involved in our very special event.”

Among this year’s runners were television presenters Dermot O’Leary, Gabby Logan and actor Stephen Mangan.

Ben Leaman came first in the race for the second year running, while Kate Moulds was the fastest woman.
