Less than two weeks are left to vote in Fundraising Magazine’s 50 Most Influential poll, with Mark Astarita looking likely to be toppled from his perch this year.
Last year Astarita, director of fundraising at the British Red Cross, retained his crown for a third consecutive year. But this year he looks likely to be toppled by a new breed of fundraising leaders.
The current field is wide open, with three fundraising directors at large charities featuring strongly - Catherine Miles of Anthony Nolan, Liz Tait of Battersea Cats and Dogs Home and Alan Gosschalk of Scope.
Astarita himself has tipped a wide number of individuals to vote for on his Twitter feed, and asked whether the poll will have a female winner.
"Spotted a trend in my most influential FR in the UK," he tweeted last month. "There are 100’s of fab female fundraisers #stopvotingforoldmen."
The poll is open until 12 June. Results are available in the July 2015 issue of Fundraising Magazine.
