Centre for Ageing Better appoints interim chief executive

The Centre for Ageing Better has appointed Carole Easton as interim chief executive until a permanent appointment is made.

She takes over from Anna Dixon, who announced she was leaving in March 2021, after five years in charge.

Easton has previously been interim chief executive at Refuge, interim joint chief executive at the British Lung Foundation and chief executive at the Young Women’s Trust.

She is also an experienced non-executive director, trustee and chair. She currently sits on the board of Advance, a charity that works with women who have experienced domestic abuse to be safe and take control of their lives, and women who have committed crime or are at risk of offending.

Easton said: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to lead Ageing Better during this interim period. I am excited to put my experience to good use and help the organisation prepare for a new permanent chief executive.

“The work of the centre has demonstrated the benefits and the importance to individuals and to society of ensuring that people can have a good later life. I am keen to support and sustain the excellent work of the charity whose mission is to guarantee that a good later life is an aspiration that can be shared by everyone in the UK.”

The Centre for Ageing Better was founded in 2014, and shortly afterwards received a ten-year £50m endowment from the National Lottery Community Fund. It is part of the What Work network, which uses independent evidence to push for better decisions in a range of public policy areas.
