The new chief executive for the Centre for Ageing Better, Sharmila Nebhrajani, has left the post after just three months.

She joined as the charity's first-ever chief executive in October 2014, following a three-year stint as chief executive for the Association of Medical Research Charities.

A spokeswoman for the Centre for Ageing Better told Civil Society News: “Sharmila Nebhrajani has decided after an initial period that that she will end her role as chief executive of the Centre for Ageing Better. The Centre wishes her well for the future.”

In September 2014, the charity applied for funding from the Big Lottery Fund to invest in "projects to help identify the practical changes needed to ensure we age better". The application was approved and the Centre will receive £50m from the Big Lottery Fund early this year.

“The Centre expects to receive its £50m endowment from the Big Lottery Fund shortly and is now recruiting an interim chief executive to start up the organisation and then a permanent chief executive to lead it,” the spokeswoman said.
