Cancer Research UK has launched a savings bond in partnership with the Coventry Building Society.

Cancer Research UK has launched a savings bond in partnership with the Coventry Building Society.

The Race for Life Bond is a 22-month, savings bond offering a 2.10 per cent return per annum, fixed until 30 April 2015. In addition, the Society will donate a sum equal to 0.10 per cent of the total balances held in the bond to fund Cancer Research UK’s work.

Caroline Silke, head of corporate partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Coventry Building Society to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK’s life saving work. We’re living in a golden age of cancer research, taking some extraordinary steps forward in understanding how to tackle the disease, and the money raised through the Race for Life Bond will help us find new and kinder treatments to ensure more people survive cancer in the future.” 

Colin Franklin, sales and marketing director at Coventry Building Society, added, “I am delighted we are launching the Race for Life Bond. Cancer Research UK gives hope to thousands of people through its ground-breaking research.  We really want to encourage support for its work, and by doing the right thing for savers we hope we can improve the prospects of thousands of cancer sufferers.”

The minimum opening deposit for the bond is £1. The maximum investment limit is £250,000.
