Yorkshire-based youth charity Sheffield Futures has announced it is to shed as many as 95 of its approximately 370 staff due to cuts in funding.
In a statement, the charity said: “The full impact of the cuts to our services is yet to be finalised.
“We are working in consultation with staff and union representatives.”
The problems have reportedly come as a result of funding cuts made by Sheffield City Council, but a spokeswoman for the charity said it was not willing to give further information at this time.
Staff trade union Unison did not respond to queries, but is said to be considering the possibility of strike action.
With an income of £10.3m in the year ending March 2009, Sheffield Futures provides support services and activities for young people in the areas of education, employment, personal development and social inclusion.
