David Ellis, chair of Touch Trust, explains how a review of governance has been important for the continued success of this charity for people of all ages with profound and multiple disabilities.

When I retired from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2006, I promised a former colleague, Dilys Price, that I would help her with the charity she had founded in 1997, called Touch Trust. Having spent all her life in special needs education, Dilys recognised the lack of provision nationally for people of all ages with complex needs and profound physical and learning difficulties. She had the vision to realise that all human beings can learn, experience joy and achieve happiness, whatever their ability.
