For over a quarter of a century, Scene & Heard has brought children’s imaginations to life on London’s Somers Town stage, empowered young voices and created lasting social impact.

The idea behind Scene & Heard was imported from New York and is based on the 52nd Street Project, a not-for-profit arts education and mentoring organisation supporting young people aged nine to 18 who live in the Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood. The 52nd Street Project is the brainchild of actor/playwright Willie Reale, who established it in 1981 in response to a deepening need to improve the quality of life for the children of Hell’s Kitchen.
