Where are the bright young things of fundraising? Fundraising launches its first search for the top 25 fundraisers under 35 years of age. Celina Ribeiro explains how - and why.
What is that old Biblical phrase about hiding lights under bushels? At Fundraising we don’t like bushels. We’d like to do away with them entirely. We want to see the lights.
This year, Fundraising magazine - and our online home at civilsociety.co.uk - has launched our first-ever search for the best young fundraisers out there. The Twenty-five Under 35. But these fundraisers are often not on the radar. We need to hear from you.
Does a certain young fundraiser inspire you? Do they raise a truckload of cash? Are they pushing the boundaries of fundraising thought and practice? Are they engaging with and shaping the fundraising regulatory landscape? Or are they just really, really good at what they do?
Whatever it is they do, whoever it is they are, if there you know a great fundraiser under the age of 35 years, then we want to hear about them. Or from them. If it’s yourself, all the better. Nothing wrong with a bit of self belief (or promotion) in this business.
We’ll run the results – not a ranked poll, but a genuine celebration and uncovering of young talent in this industry – in our June issue. That’s just before we publish our 50 Most Influential poll, in which we celebrate the achievements and influence of fundraisers often with decades of experience under their respective belts.
Because Fundraising magazine wants to acknowledge and applaud the contribution of all good fundraisers; young and old, male and female, high-profile and no profile, at charities or at agencies. And sometimes that means making a special effort to find those who are ploughing away, not quite yet in the full spotlight.
We really, really hope you get involved and nominate a young fundraiser. Nomination forms are right here. Entries close on 26 April, so get in touch. Let there be light.
