US charity Climate Name Change suggests storms should be named after policy-makers who deny climate change, in this satirical film.

Climate Name Change has created a film that proposes a new naming system for hurricanes and other havoc-wreaking storms, one that uses the names of policy-makers  that deny climate change instead of names that could belong to anyone.

The film begins by asking why people with the same names as extreme storms have to be connected with negative comments such as ‘Go away Katrina’ and ‘We all hate you Sandy’ in neighbourhoods destroyed by the storms.

The charity shows how news reports would look if the naming system changed to use names of US policy-makers who have denied climate change, like Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio.

The purpose of the video is to persuade people to sign its petition to recommend the new naming system to the World Meteorological Organisation. The petition can be found at its website: http://www.climatenamechange.org/
