Child Poverty Action Group has launched its first film to promote its new campaign ‘People like Us’, which aims to highlight the stigma attached to claiming benefits.

As part of its new campaign ‘People Like Us’ the Child Poverty Action Group has created its first film illustrating that people who claim benefits do not always conform to the stereotypes in the tabloids of 'lazy scroungers'.

The film is based on a series of interviews with individuals talking about the circumstances which led to them claiming benefits, such as illness or redundancy.

The campaign, ‘People Like Us’, will see the launch of a letter to party leaders, asking them to remember the people they are talking about when discussing benefit claimants.

The film was created for CPAG by Politics.co.uk's VoiceOver service.

Every Friday civilsociety.co.uk features an innovative or effective use of film by a charity. If you would like to draw our attention to your charity's film, or even someone else's please email [email protected]
