The British Heart Foundation has produced an animated cartoon promoting its campaign, the Great British Bag-athon 2013.

It tells the true story of Richard, who suffered a heart attack at work, and charts his subsequent recovery. It attempts to identify with the audience by highlighting the thoughts Richard had while he was lying on a hospital bed – thoughts dominated by his wife and his child; thoughts that many people would have when they realise that their life is in jeopardy.

Although the cartoon style means the video remains light-hearted and pleasant to watch, the message is that Richard was able to recover from his heart attack because of people donating bags full of items that led to funding for “lifesaving research into heart disease that proved to be, well - lifesaving”.

The film ends by asking the audience for help to raise one million bags.
