A survey being conducted by London Advice Services Alliance (Lasa), a national charity offering welfare rights advice, information and training, will canvass sector opinion on whether the Big Society plan represents an opportunity or a threat.

Running until 27 October the “politically neutral” survey will ask questions to help the organisation ascertain how  sector groups feel Big Society will affect them, their funding and the way they work with other charities in order to put forward a case for sector funding and support.

"Because Lasa works with over 4,000 charities each year across welfare rights and technology, the survey will help shape the way we support them in the future," said a spokeswoman for Lasa.

“The results will provide useful insights into what third sector organisations really think about the Big Society, whether they see it as an opportunity or a threat, how useful they think it will be and what the long term effect of the Big Society could be on the third sector,” she added.

The charity hopes to receive several hundred responses from a wide range of UK charities before publishing the results in November.
