Oxfam GB has appointed a new director in a bid to grow income from what it called “high value” partnerships.

Dave Hillyard (pictured) will take up the role of philanthropy and partnerships director on 8 June. The role is not a new one within the organisation but has been unoccupied since Juliet Chalmers left in the summer of 2014. Hillyard will be managing a team of 31 staff in his new role.

Hillyard will join from international not-for-profit sanitation organisation WaterAid. Hillyard has worked at WaterAid for over three years as head of major partnerships where he has managed a team of 40 staff. During his tenure, WaterAid have achieved a 50 per cent growth in income.

Before working at WaterAid, Hillyard also worked in senior partnership management roles with Earthwatch Institute International and the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Tim Hunter, director of fundraising at Oxfam GB, said: “This is a critical role that will drive forward our partnerships and income growth from others who, like Oxfam, want to fight poverty, suffering and injustice around the world.”
