Minister for civil society Nick Hurd has said he gives 1 per cent of his income to charity through a Charities Aid Foundation account.
Hurd announced details about his giving at CAF’s Charity Question Time at the Conservative Party conference yesterday - an event based on the format of BBC’s Question Time, which CAF has held at each party conference this year.
On its Twitter account @cafonline, CAF said Nick Hurd had gone public on the fact that he gives 1 per cent of his income to charity through a CAF account.
Hurd currently earns around £86,632 a year. He receives £65,738 from his MP salary and according to the Cabinet Office’s most recent accounts he received £20,894 a year for his role as Minister for the Office for Civil Society.
On this salary, it means he gives around £867 a year to charity from his income.
