Andrew Turner MP, the new member of the Public Administration Select Committee, has tweeted that he agrees with many of the views of his predecessor on the committee, the controversial and outspoken Charlie Elphicke.
After civilsociety.co.uk ran a story recently announcing the news of Elphicke’s departure from the committee and Turner’s appointment to it, some readers took to Twitter to voice their approval.
Retired civil servant Dick Bunting wrote: “Elphicke a one-term MP. Sensible move this! PASC reshuffle: Charlie Elphicke out, Andrew Turner in” and Nick Davies, policy manager at Children England tweeted: “Charlie Elphicke has been replaced by Andrew Turner on the PASC. Good news for all easily annoyed VCS staff (like me).”
But Turner himself saw the thread and joined in to assert his support for Elphicke. The former shadow charities minister tweeted: “Hate to disappoint @CivilSocietyUK but I agree with @CharlieElphicke re [the story] – and so do many on #isleofwight. #goodnews”.
