The Church Investors Group has published a report to help guide its members when they are making decisions about investing in companies that pay their executives outrageous amounts.

The Group, which has 37 members with combined assets of around £12bn, commissioned the report in response to the growing public concern at excessive pay for corporate boards. Despite comments on pay by Church leaders, there was little theological backing for an ethical position on the topic.

The Group hopes the report, which emphasised that concern for the poor should be the biggest concern for Church investors, will now provide this.

Individual denominations will now consider the report within their own governance structures.
