The Charity Commission launched its new website today, and hopes that the improvements will make it easier to use.
Information on how to find a charity, register a charity, complete an annual return, change charity details and how to complain about the Commission and about a charity, is now prominently displayed on the Commission’s homepage.
There are also 70 new articles offering guidance on common tasks and pointing readers to where more detailed guidance is available, as well as interactive guides on matters such as preparing accounts.
A Charity Commission spokeswoman said the cost of the new website was "approximately £75,000". The new site was designed by Reading Room and built by System Associates.
Sam Younger, chief executive of the Commission, revealed that the website was being overhauled last September.
Before the end of March 2014 content from the Commission’s website will be integrated with the central government website gov.uk, but the Commission has been reassured that it will be exempt from adopting government branding and information on the government site will link back to the Commission’s website.
