National branches of Nordoff Robbins merge into one charity

02 Oct 2018 News

Nordoff Robbins Scotland, the music therapy charity, will merge into the Nordoff Robbins charity covering England and Wales, creating a single organisation.

The new combined charity will cover all of Great Britain except for Northern Ireland, and will continue to offer all current existing services.

All directors of Nordoff Robbins Scotland will join the senior management team at the new, combined charity. Julie Whelan, the existing chief executive, will remain as the chief executive of the combined charity.

Two members of the Scottish non-executive board will be joining the board of the merged charities, while the rest will remain supporting Nordoff Robbins and our Scotland provision in a variety of ways. David Munns, the existing chair of the England and Wales branch, will remain as chair of the combined charity.

All 17 Nordoff Robbins Scotland employees will transfer over, giving the new charity a combined headcount of 123.

Whelan said: “This move to merge with our sister organisation Nordoff Robbins Scotland is a significant moment in the charities history. It is a moment which brings with it scope for greater work, broader reach and more lives changed through music.

“In our hopes to achieve our objectives, we move forward stronger, and with the support of our Scottish colleagues we look to the future with vigour and confidence.”
