Marie Curie is hoping to attract more volunteers for its 2015 Great Daffodil Appeal, with the launch of its first television advert to recruit fundraisers for the annual appeal.

The new DRTV campaign will run alongside the organisation’s traditional radio appeals for volunteers. A spokeswoman said that DRTV was used by a number of other charities and hoped that television would prove to be a similarly effective medium for Marie Curie.

Marie Curie is hoping to raise £8.7m for the Great Daffodil Appeal in March 2015; an increase of over £400,000 from last year. It is also hoping for an extra 3,000 people to volunteer with an extra 37,000 collection shifts available.

The charity is currently rebranding, and has recently dropped the words “Cancer Care” from its name. It also merged four of its departments into one back in November, and recruited Jude Bridge to lead the new department covering the marketing, communications, fundraising and policy and public affairs functions

The 30-second DRTV spot will be voiced by actress Jane Horrocks, who will also lend her voice to the radio recruitment ad.

Advertising agencies Saatchi & Saatchi and UM London have both confirmed their involvement with Marie Curie's new media campaign.

The Great Daffodil Appeal will run from 1 to 31 March and will take place across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
