Help the Heroes has been voted one of the top five brands in the country by members of the public and marketing professionals in the 2011 Marketing Society Brand of the Year awards.

Help the Heroes has been voted one of the top five brands in the country by members of the public and marketing professionals in the 2011 Marketing Society Brand of the Year awards.

It is the first time a charity has made the five-strong shortlist since the award was created in 2007. Help for Heroes was voted into the top five from a list of 20 leading brands including Apple, Innocent, British Airways and John Lewis.

John Lewis, the employee-owned co-operative which earlier this year paid an 18 per cent bonus to all its staff, came out on top for the second year running.

Bryn Parry, CEO and co-founder of Help for Heroes, said: “This latest recognition is a wonderful and unexpected accolade. To even be considered alongside the country’s leading brands is an amazing achievement for a four-year old charity.”

Since its launch in October 2007, Help for Heroes has raised over £118m for wounded service personnel. It has funded a variety of projects including the £8m Rehabilitation Complex at Headley Court, a new £3.5m treatment centre for Combat Stress, £1m for adaptive adventure training through the Battle Back programme and the creation of a £6m Quick Reaction Fund to support individuals in need.

The charity is currently in the midst of a £150m fundraising campaign to build five regional Personnel Recovery Centres to provide ongoing training and support for the wounded after they leave Headley Court.

Parry added: “Providing support to ‘the blokes’ is an enormous responsibility but one we are privileged and ready to take on. We have much more work to do to ensure they receive the support they deserve, for life, and hope the public will continue to support and place their trust in us to deliver. The continuing strength and recognition of the H4H brand will help us achieve this.”
