Charities holding fundraising race events could benefit from a new website designed to encourage participants' friends to donate by entering a sweepstake guessing how long it will take them to complete the course.

Guess2Give was launched in June this year as a completely free service for charities to boost fundraising income. It currently boasts charities such as St Mungo's, Scope and Parkinson's UK among its charity partners.

Fundraisers' friends pay £3 for a guess at how long it will take their friend to finish the course, with a maximum of 100 guesses. Up to £2.50 (with gift aid) from each guess goes to the charity, while 50p goes into a sweepstake to be won by the closest bidder. The winner then gets the option to donate their winnings to the charity their friend is raising funds for if they want to.

With less than six months under its belt, the site has launched a 60-second film explaining how it works:

Guess2Give is a member of the FRSB and the Institute of Fundraising, it is also regulated by the Gambling Commission.
