More regional social enterprises from the government’s £10m fund for early-stage social ventures are set to be named next month.
The Social Incubator Fund was launched last year. It is delivered by Big Lottery Fund on behalf of the Office for Civil Society, providing investment across the UK into ‘social incubators’ – organisations that will offer a period of intensive support to social enterprise start-ups and give social entrepreneurs access to the resources they need to get their ventures off the ground.
Interested applicants for the next round of funding can register their interest - and secure a place at an obligatory briefing event - by emailing Big Fund at [email protected].
The latest recipients of the Social Incubator Fund were also revealed today, which will receive over £1m each.
Social Incubator North, which has been set up by the established social enterprise Key Fund, will work in collaboration with four regional social enterprise partnerships in the north of England. It has received £1.06m from the Fund and over the next four years the programme will invest in and support 50 organisations, with a further 50 receiving support but no investment.
Hub Launchpad, meanwhile, will create four seven-month incubator programmes in Birmingham and London which will focus on public service innovation, finance innovation and future manufacturing. It has received £1.48m from the Social Incubator Fund, over four years.
The Fund's first recipients, Wayra UnLtd and Bethnal Green Ventures, secured a combined £2.1m of support in February 2013.
