Asda boss jailed for stealing charity cash

Former chair of the Asda Foundation Charity has been jailed for three years for stealing £180,000 from the charity to give to the Murley Dance Company. Paul Kelly has been charged with seven counts of fraud and was sentenced this week at Leeds Crown Court (pictured).

Charity may have lost £3m in property sale

The Charity Commission is looking into concerns raised over anti-poverty charity Glasspool Trust over the way it sold 63 homes in north-east London. Stella Creasy, Labour MP for Walthamstow, wrote to the regulator after the charity sold the flats to a property developer without telling tenants, causing a number of evictions, and potentially lost £3m in the deal by selling them for below-market prices.

Live grenade found in charity shop

Parts of Walworth, London, were put on lockdown on Monday after a live hand grenade was found in a charity shop. The explosive was left as a “donation” at a branch of Sense.
