Nightrider, a charity fundraising bike ride, has announced that it will be expanding into two further cities, adding Bristol and Liverpool alongside its original London event.
Classic Tours, the event organiser, is expecting Nightrider 2016 to be sold out, with over 3,000 riders raising around £1.7m for charity across the three cities.
Since the first Nightrider in 2010, the event has raised over £7m for hundreds of different charities.
The first event will take place in London on the night of 4 June, followed by Bristol on 24 June before finishing in Liverpool on the night of 16 July. All three events will offer 60km and 100km routes taking in “the most iconic landmarks of each city” – including Trafalgar Square in London, Albert Docks in Liverpool and the Harbourside area in Bath.
Nightrider 2016 will be officially unveiled to charities at a series of launch events in the three cities in September 2015.
Gavin Kramer, managing director of Classic Tours, said: “By introducing Bristol and Liverpool alongside the original London route, we hope that more people than ever will take up the challenge and help raise a huge amount for good causes.”
Alex Heasley, head of Virgin Money Giving, said: “London Nightrider continues to provide charities with an excellent return per fundraiser, with an average page on Virgin Money Giving achieving £622.88 for the 2015 event.”
