Charities Aid Foundation’s director of communications Paul Rees has left the organisation to take up a new job as executive director of policy and engagement at the Royal College of General Practitioners.
CAF’s head of media relations, Ben Russell, and Richard Harrison, director of research, are covering the director role until either a replacement is appointed or a new structure is devised. Russell confirmed that the situation is still under review.
Rees joined CAF about 18 months ago and led on last year’s high-profile ‘Give it Back George’ campaign that CAF and NCVO launched to persuade Chancellor George Osborne to drop his proposed cap on tax relief for donations to charity.
He also oversaw the tail-end of a restructuring of CAF’s comms team, which now comprises a senior media relations officer and a media relations executive as well as Ben Russell.
At the Royal College of GPs Rees will lead the work on policy and corporate communications, and its engagement with members through the devolved councils and faculties.
