The Cabinet Office has named the 265 charities and social enterprises to benefit from a share of £20m through the Local Sustainability Fund.

The Cabinet Office yesterday named the last 133 charities and social enterprises to recieve the funding today, having made the first announcement last week. A total of 265 organisations will be recieving funding delivered by Big Lottery Fund.

The LSF aims to “help smaller charities to implement organisational change and access professional advice that might currently be out of their reach”.

It will be delivered over the next 12 months and recipients will work with local businesses and skilled advisers to ensure they make the most of the funding they have received.

Rob Wilson, minister for Civil Society, said: “Many congratulations to those successful in their Local Sustainability Fund applications. The fund will equip smaller charities with the skills they need to firm up their long-term sources of income and reduce their dependence on short-term funding solutions."

Over 1,000 charities had applied for the grant funding when it was announced.

The fund had been initially announced as a £40m fund, however an Office for Civil Society spokeswoman had told Civil Society News that it was “an indicative figure, and never a pledge”.
