Mimi McCord is the new chair of Barrett’s Oesophagus Campaign – the national charity dedicated to the prevention of cancer from Barrett’s Oesophagus and the support of people living with the disease.
McCord, who is already a trustee at the charity, succeeds Dr Paul Salmon who held the position for the past three years.
McCord founded the McCord Oesophageal Cancer Fund in 2003 in memory of her husband, Michael, who died from Barrett’s adenocarcinoma without having the benefit of a previous diagnosis of Barrett’s Oesophagus.
In 2008 she merged her Fund with the Barrett’s Oesophagus Foundation (BOF) – the original name of the charity prior to its enlargement and change of name to the Barrett’s Oesophagus Campaign (BOC) in 2009.
