Customers of Screwfix tool company made 50,000 micro-donations over the past four months to raise £10,000 for charity partner Everyman.
The donations came as part of the Pennies microdonation scheme, which asks customers to round up their shopping bills using their debit or credit cards, with the excess pennies being donated to charity.
As part of the Screwfix partnership, the majority of the cash went to the retailer’s partner Everyman, and 25 per cent was split between Pennies’ own 29 partner charities.
The pace of donations via the Pennies scheme has increased significantly since its inception nearly two years ago. It took one year for one million people to donate through the scheme, and but just six months to hit the two million donation mark.
